Investment Management

Investment Management Centered on Your Financial Goals

Foothills Investments provides discretionary investment management designed around each client’s objectives, risk tolerance, time horizon, liquidity needs, tax circumstances, and other material financial considerations.

The objective is not to predict every market movement. It is to develop and maintain an investment strategy that supports your long-term financial plan.

Investment approach

Investment management should be grounded in principles - not predictions.

Depending on the client and engagement, investment analysis may include fundamental, technical, and economic considerations.

Portfolios may use:

  • Mutual funds
  • Exchange-traded funds
  • Individual equity securities
  • Fixed-income securities
  • Cash and short-term instruments
  • Other investments determined to be appropriate

Strategies may be active, passive, or a combination of both. No particular investment or asset class is appropriate for every client.

Process

Understand

Review your goals, financial condition, investment experience, risk tolerance, time horizon, income needs, liquidity needs, existing assets, and restrictions.

Design

Develop an investment strategy and allocation consistent with the information provided.

Implement

Establish and trade the portfolio under the discretionary authority provided in the written agreement.

Monitor

Monitor investments and material developments on an ongoing basis.

Review

Conduct formal account reviews at least annually and additional reviews when market conditions or the client’s circumstances warrant.

Client restrictions and discretion

Clients grant Foothills Investments discretion to determine which securities are purchased or sold and the amount of each transaction, subject to the written advisory agreement, investment objectives, Investment Policy Statement, and any approved written restrictions.

Clients may request reasonable restrictions involving particular securities, categories of securities, or industry sectors. Restrictions must be submitted in writing and accepted by the firm.

Custody of Your Assets

Client assets are maintained with an independent qualified custodian. Foothills Investments generally recommends Charles Schwab & Co., Inc.

Foothills Investments does not hold physical custody of client funds or securities. When authorized by the client, advisory fees may be deducted directly from a custodial account. This fee-deduction authority is considered a form of constructive custody under applicable requirements.

Clients receive statements directly from the custodian and should compare those statements with any report or invoice provided by Foothills Investments.

Account reviews

Formal reviews are conducted at least annually. Additional reviews may occur because of significant market volatility, economic or political developments, retirement, a job change, inheritance, relocation, changes in investment objectives, or other material circumstances.

Clients should promptly inform Foothills Investments of significant changes in their finances, goals, risk tolerance, or desired account restrictions.

Investment-management fees

Fees are applied as a straight-tier schedule, billed quarterly in arrears, and based on the ending account value for the billing period. Accounts opened or closed during a quarter are generally prorated based on the number of days managed.

Fees are negotiable. The applicable fee will be stated in the advisory agreement.

Custodial charges, transaction charges, fund expenses, trading costs, wire fees, margin interest, deferred sales charges, and other third-party expenses are separate from Foothills Investments’ advisory fee.

Foothills Investments does not receive commissions from the sale of investment products and does not charge performance-based fees.

Foothills Investments does not currently state a formal minimum account size; all relationships remain subject to service fit, complexity, and operational feasibility.
